Okaikoi South Community Library Project

Over 5000 school children in the thirteen (13) public Junior High Schools in the Okaikoi South Constituency in Ghana do not have access to library facilities. This has negatively affected the performance of the students at the Basic Education Certificate Examination over the years. About 40% of the students are unable to advance to Senior High schools due to poor performance in English and other major subjects.
The Okaikoi South Community Library project will primarily provide a conducive learning environment for students, lend books to students to improve their reading skills and as an information resource center that will teach children how to read as it is a major challenge in the constituency. Students and teachers will have access to a wide range of story books, text books and other resources that will be made available to them upon request. The Community Library will also establish reading Clubs in the schools to inspire more students to read.
